Company History

The AKP was introduced in June 1997. A patent for the Adjustable Keyboard Podium was granted on June 29, 1999. The development of the AKP was prompted by the often-poor ergonomic choices given to the computer user at home. A major concern then, and to this day, is the proliferation of computers and laptops in the home, positioned on tables and other home furniture. Today the home computer is used by a variety of people in the family, from children to adults, and each user requires the keyboard to be positioned at different heights. Although ergonomic design may be either a statutory requirement or an economic necessity in the workplace, it receives minimal consideration in the home.

While the AKP was designed for the home its value has been proven in the workplace. Seventy-five percent of our sales are sold to a wide range of businesses and universities for a variety of sitting and standing applications.

Mission

The mission of AKP, Inc. is to provide its customers, the general computing world, with a high quality, exceptionally effective keyboard or laptop support. Provide a broad product line, in a cost effective manner, to accommodate the majority of sitting and standing applications at home, at work, or at school.
